Why I Applied and Decided to Go

I decided to apply for IYLEP after completing the 29 Challenge.

This challenge involved developing one skill over 29 days, which eventually led to a trip to Turkey.

That trip motivated me to take on leadership roles.

When I discovered IYLEP, it seemed like the next logical step. I saw it as an opportunity to push myself beyond my comfort zone and immerse myself in a new culture.

Meeting my fellow exchange students was a valuable experience.

Everyone brought a unique background and aspirations, which created a collaborative environment.

During weeks 2 and 3, we were divided into groups at a host university and had the chance to travel to four different states.

My group focused on Arkansas, where we engaged in activities that emphasized community service and leadership development.

The workshops and discussions provided valuable insights into local issues and perspectives.

Host Family Day

A memorable moment was Host Family Day.

Connecting with local families offered a look into American life and enriched our cultural exchange experience.

Sharing meals and stories helped build rapport and deepened my understanding of the community.

Exploring the Big Cities: Week 4 in D.C. and NYC
#

The final week included visits to Washington, D.C. and New York City.

Both cities are filled with cultural landmarks and historical significance.

New York Day

On New York Day, the city’s vibrant atmosphere was noticeable.

As we explored iconic sites and busy neighborhoods, I was reminded of the diversity and energy of urban life.

This experience highlighted the differences between my home and the broader American culture.
